Tablet computers embraced by UK office workers

26th October 2011
Workers in office space in Manchester and other workplaces around the country have embraced tablet computer technology, it has been claimed.
According to data from Equanet, around one in five firms are now using the gadget in the workplace.

However, many businesses are not yet paying out for the devices, with almost three-quarters of the tablets used in the workplace employee owned.
Almost every respondent (98 per cent) said that using tablets helped them demonstrate that their company was up-to-date and modern.

The study revealed that the Apple iPad is the most commonly used tablet, beating the Samsung Galaxy into second place. Paul Barlow, managing director of VAR Servium, said that more businesses are likely to adopt tablets when Windows 8 is released next year.

According to recent data, Apple holds 67 per cent of the tablet market. Samsung recently launched a law suit to get Apple's iPad banned from Japan after its devices were banned from some European markets.
