Commercial property landlords will seek to surpass Government sustainability goals

The UK’s property industry has revealed it will do everything in its power to meet Government sustainability targets, the sector’s leaders told an MIPIM seminar this week.

Following a recent MIPIM seminar, it was confirmed UK commercial properties with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of F- and G- would be unlettable due to the new terms of the 2011 Energy Act.

The discussion 'Are we too broke for sustainability?' focused on the fact that although there was unlikely to be a green premium for the most energy efficient work space, the onus will be firmly on commercial property landlords to revamp their portfolio to ensure they do not lose value on their properties.
